Egypt’s construction and infrastructure industries are witnessing a transformative era, marked by the development of new cities and mega projects. During the opening of the 6th edition of Big 5 Construct Egypt and the 2nd edition of the Egypt Infrastructure & Water Expo at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre, speakers from the public and private sectors underscored the critical importance of advancing sustainable development while supporting the growth of Egypt’s infrastructure to meet growing demands for new cities.

“Under the new action plan and working on accelerating the availability of education and government services, transportation and job opportunities as well as various financing options, people are now more encouraged to go and live in the new cities. There are 11.5 million people currently living in new cities in Egypt,” said Eng. Amr Khattab, Infrastructure General Manager, Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Minister’s Technical Office.

Fellow panelists Ali Badawy, Architecture Section Head, Administrative Capital for Urban Development; Dr. Karim Morsy, Advisor, Minister of Environment – Egypt and Dr. Ashraf Kamal, Professor of Sustainable Architecture and Urban Economics, Housing and Building National Research Center reiterated on the improved infrastructure and connectivity across cities, citing the New Administrative Capital as a new benchmark for urban development.

During his session, Dr. Eng. Tarek Hamed Gewaily, Chairman, National Authority for Tunnels stressed on the importance of modernizing the transport infrastructure for economic growth and societal development.

The opening day was also strongly supported by international government representatives, welcoming H.E. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, Ambassador of Greece to Egypt; H.E. Mr. UK Sarun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia; H.E. Ms. Catherine Nurujean Kunje, Ambassador, Embassy of The Republic of Malawi in Cairo; Major-General Vilio H. Hifindaka, Ambassador, Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in Egypt, Eritrea, Kuwait, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen; General Charles Angina, Ambassador of Uganda to Egypt; Samuel Sellassie Sevor, Minister Counsellor – Ghana Embassy in Egypt; Periklis Davanelos, Minister Counsellor Embassy of Greece; Tola Nay Mobinga, Minister Counsellor - Embassy of the Republic of Congo in Egypt as well as delegations from companies such as Innovo, Al-Ayuni, Dar Al Riyadh and Nesma & Partners.

This year, Big 5 Construct Egypt and Egypt Infrastructure & Water Expo brought together more than 300 exhibitors from around the world, with five international pavilions showcasing renowned companies from China, Greece, Germany, Italy and Türkiye.

“Exhibiting at Big 5 Construct Egypt allowed international companies to engage with Egyptian counterparts and explore potential collaborations, joint ventures, and knowledge sharing through three days of exhibition.
